It's finally time for me to stop thinking about all the things I need to write about and just get back to writing!
Jill at the Birds and Blooms Blog recently posted a helpful article on attracting more birds to feeders, and I just had to de-lurk on my own blog to share some photos.
I have some bird pictures I'll post later, as I would love some help with identification; but first I want to share a photo of a new feeder I bought, and the conversation surrounding it:
Me: I found a platform feeder for cardinals that I think will actually keep out the squirrels.
Dude: Does it have anything on it to keep the snow out?
Me: Oh, I didn't think about that. Crud!
Dude: I'm sure it will be squirrel proof. It'll also be bird proof.
Me: Maybe a squirrel baffle above it would act like an umbrella?
as the Dude continues: The next snow will create an icy layer and the food will be really safe!
Me (looking at my son who is laughing): Why didn't you say anything when I was looking at it?
Son: I did. I said,"Come on mom, let's go!"
Here's the feeder, by the way. I do need to shake the seed down a bit more, as there is a second layer of wire mesh that the seed should sit below:
