Today we had out last official service in our present church building. We invited the (now retired) pastor who preached the first message in our present building to preach (one of) the last messages. We also dedicated the building to the school and community, offering prayers for the safety and blessing of all who use it. Soon, our pews will be relocated and we will worship in metal folding chairs for hopefully 2 weeks maximum. It's so hard to pin down a date, other than it's oh so close.
I so cannot wait to be able to put my Sunday school materials in cabinets and store my student books at the church (along with everything else that's been stashed in our home office for two years and counting). The school district has been very gracious to us, as our rental contract expired 6 weeks ago.
Anyway, the former pastor spoke a lot about faith, about the obstacles they had to overcome when they built, and about the blessings God poured out on them. It was a good day!
